a july slow living r.e.p.o.r.t.

Lots of discoveries were made in July! That doesn’t tend to be the case, as I typically hide in air conditioned rooms all summer long. Seasonal slow living has changed that for me, and for the better. Let’s dive into the report!

R (reading)

Something about summer makes me want to read a little lighter. A solid beach read, ya know? Now while I did not visit the ocean this season, I did pick up my perfect beach read. A light thriller that truly felt like a race to the end and gave me major Scream vibes, which you know I cannot resist. Swiped by L.M. Chilton was at times nonsensical, but overall super fun and exactly what I needed.

E (eating)

It’s impossible to find a veggie deli sandwich. I’m not talking about stacks of vegetables between bread, a caprese, tuna melt, etc. As a native New Yorker, sometimes all my heart wants is a cold cuts sandwich with all the standard fixin’s. As a veggie, I make my own version and the key to executing this are the ingredients. You NEED kaiser rolls. I use Tofurky for the cold cuts (I also like Unreal Deli). The rest is self-explanatory. DELISH.

P (playing)

On a whim one weekend, we bought a frisbee! Just for the purpose of going to the park and tossing it around. It’s SO much fun. A simple game of catch becomes a whole thing when you pack a picnic bag and spend the day hanging at the park.

O (obsessing)

After watching plenty of Apple Cheeks content, I’ve become enamored with the note-taking app Notability. No, I don’t take school notes. I don’t even take work notes. Tiffany inspired me to use the app from a creative standpoint, so I’ve been using it as a sort of junk journal. So far, I’ve created notes for my TBR, mini book reviews, and recipes.

R (recommending)

A colleague shared this app with me and now I shall share the knowledge with you: Swimply! Think Airbnb - but for pools! If you don’t have access to a pool, you can rent someone’s through this app. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing afternoon or planning to host a pool party, Swimply will help you find the right host! My first experience with it was FANTASTIC.

T (treating)

I’ve been taking advantage of summer sales and restocking on things I desperately need but keep putting off. It feels like a nice treat to swap out old and worn out items for new replacements… at a discount! What’s not to love about that?!

I’ll be focusing on wrapping up the summer as we head into August. With a booked out calendar, I hope to have much to report back. Happy new month!
