a june slow living r.e.p.o.r.t.
June was jam-packed, and I’m honestly ready for a chill-as-it-can-be July. Here’s the latest report.
R (reading)
Not only did I not anticipate picking up Chlorine by Jade Song anytime soon, but I surely didn’t anticipate it being one of my favorite reads of 2024 thus far! Not even when I was 25% into the story. But when things started picking up, I just knew it’d be unforgettable. Chlorine is a wild, weird, and unsettling coming-of-age novel of a girl who thinks she’s a mermaid.
E (eating)
My local farmers market’s bread stand has a long line all Saturday long, every single Saturday, and with good reason. They have the most delicious fluffiest squares of focaccia adorned with fun ingredients like spring onion and rosemary. I grab a couple to fill with simple ingredients like s&p tomato and pesto.
P (playing)
Dead by Daylight is celebrating their 8th anniversary with an event! So, we’ve been playing every single day lol. Not only is it super fun because the game is super fun, but it’s bringing back peak-pandemic memories where we did nothing but play DbD for hours on end.
O (obsessing)
I understand why so many people swear by their e-readers, and even though I’ve had mine since 2015, I seem to forget just how positive of an experience it is for reading. It’s light, it’s compact, I somehow read 15x faster than when I read a physical book… I love the thing so much.
R (recommending)
Another warm season recommendation because I stand by seasonal slow living: Each week, pick a new fruit to try from your farmers market. Then, when having dinner let’s say, prepare a plate of fruit as a “side”. It’s such a refreshing palate cleanser, really embraces summer, and you get to try new fruit!
T (treating)
A shopping tip for you: Keep a wishlist of all the things you’ve discovered throughout the year. When sales events approach, go through your wishlist to see if anything received a deep discount and treat yourself to it! This is exclusively how I shop for many of my most-wanted items.
The end of June also marked the end of Q2, and I hope it was a good one for you. I have plenty to work with, personally. But I’m looking forward to it!
