an april slow living r.e.p.o.r.t.

A few days late here - oops! Remind me not to head off on vacation at the end of the month. It’s arguably the busiest time for me, as I do plenty of recaps, resets, reflections, etc. Alas, here’s the April report!

R (reading)

You’re prob sick of me saying I’ve surpassed my expectations when it comes to reading, but I assure you, this is NOT common! I read another two books: The Angel of Indian Lake by Stephen Graham Jones and Nineteen Claws and a Black Bird by Agustina Bazterrica. Both absolutely fantastic, but Angel will hold a special place in my heart as Jones’ final (and best imo) installment in his indigenous slasher trilogy.

E (eating)

We’re going a solid four months of consistent food fixations, ya’ll. April goes to bagels (which is not exclusive to April of 2024), specifically from Apollo Bagels. Yeah, they’re trendy. No, they’re not overly hyped… I think. My argument is that if you’re a big sourdough lover, you’ll need to try these bagels.

P (playing)

I did not play a single game in April. Boo. So I’ll give this category to exploring/hopping around quirky little shops! Shout-outs go to Omoi and Bodie in Fishtown, and BonBon, McNally Jackson, and the Strand in Manhattan.

O (obsessing)

I’ve always been a gift giver - it’s my act of love. But it has recently evolved into pairing gifts with the most niche, oddly specific card, too. It might be that cards are starting to be less generic! Either way, I have a stash ready to go for upcoming celebrations (hehe).

R (recommending)

BABY. REINDEER. Let’s talk about it.

T (treating)

Jewelry. It’s a dangerous thing to get into because - whew - the price adds up! But I treated myself to three rings recently (from Catbird and Mejuri) and they do make me feel special. Because they’re very much a treat (not just any ol’ purchase), it makes the acquisition feel more curated and impactful.

April, despite all of the above, was a tough one for me. So I’m grateful to have a full report here. Let’s never stop doing these!!
