a march slow living r.e.p.o.r.t.

I’m back with another monthly report, another March come and gone with plenty to be grateful for. I’m especially grateful that it was the completion of a VERY successful Q1 (more on personal quarterly reviews here). Before we move onwards to Q2, April showers, and springtime slow living, here’s the March report.

R (reading)

I’ve read TWO more books in March, one of which being the best book I’ve read in a while. First, Midnight on Beacon Street by Emily Ruth Verona. This one gives major When-A-Stranger-Calls vibes: a babysitter slasher set in 90s suburban New Jersey. And if you didn’t think that was the perfect read for me, it’s also less than 250 pages! Now. The Art Thief by Michael Finkel. This non-fiction account of an art thieving couple from the 90s reads like fiction. One of the most thrilling thrills. 12/10 read.

E (eating)

Third month of the year, third food fixation of the year… I’m seeing a trend for sure. This month goes to strawberry oreo ice cream from a local spot that is dangerously within walking distance of my home. I repeat: Strawberry. Oreo. I couldn’t ask for a better flavor tbh.

P (playing)

Thanks to a sale on Steam, we’re back on our Texas Chainsaw Massacre BS. It’s such a fun game honestly, especially for fellow Dead by Daylight fans. I personally prefer playing it on the Steam deck because I prefer handheld gaming! You either play as a killer or a victim, and you either find victims to kill or escape the TCM map, respectively.

O (obsessing)

Ever since our creative retreat (and reading The Art Thief), I’ve reignited my obsession with art. This is a fantastic thing for me, because if you did not know, I’m working on rediscovering my inner artist. Artistic experiences, education, painting, and exploring has been a part of the journey for me thus far. And I thoroughly enjoyed it for most of March.

R (recommending)

Since this report is perfectly timed at the start of a new season and at the end of 2024’s first quarter, I have two things to recommend: 1) seasonal slow living, and 2) personal quarterly reviews. I promise you they are both life-changing (as Ian said during his first Q1 review on Sunday: I feel like my life has completely changed for the better).

T (treating)

We had such a lovely experience during our creative retreat for all the reasons I mentioned in my vlog. But also! We had a lovely experience living in the moment, letting go of our responsibilities, and fully embracing hobbies/personal interests. To us, that experience was a treat, and we're planning more weekends like that (even if it’s not a booked trip).

I’ll admit - Marches are not usually one for the books for me. But through a combination of intentional practices, gratitude, and reflection, I can say this March was, in fact, one for the books. Happy New Month, ya’ll.
