a may slow living r.e.p.o.r.t.

May was interesting… had quite a few health scares… but we’ll get into that at a later date, maybe. For now, let’s collate this report of all the things that brought me a bit of joy this month.

R (reading)

I read my first -meh- book of 2024 this month, but we won’t talk about it… Lemon by Kwon Yeo-Sun, though! Let’s talk about it! Lemon is a translated murder mystery thriller under 200 pages. Say less! I’m already in love! But the writing was also fantastic, I enjoyed the overall story (though the mystery was easy to solve), and some lines will stick with me forever.

E (eating)

I spotted this chicken caesar tortellini salad on my TikTok feed and thought it was absolutely genius to bulk up a salad with a bit of pasta! I modified the recipe by using morning star chik’n nuggets, but it still worked perfectly! Such a simple and yummy meal. I’ll be repeating this recipe all summer long.

P (playing)

Ian and I are declaring this summer to be the Summer of Gaming, mainly because no new series episodes release during this time of year. But we’re not at summer just yet. For now, we’re returning to a favorite from last summer: Texas Chainsaw Massacre the Game. It’s always a fun time!

O (obsessing)

I’m making it a goal to spend as much time outdoors as possible, especially during these cooler spring days. Mornings and evenings are absolutely PERFECT right now, so I’ve been reading out on the deck some mornings and having dinner in our outdoor hosting area each evening.

R (recommending)

As we head into warm season… get yourself a cold brewing system. It’s 100% worth it! The one I use is not only functional but beautiful: the Hario Cold Brew Coffee Wine Bottle.

T (treating)

Thanks to my perfectly curated Google News feed, I stumbled upon a local seasonal flea market and it was absolutely incredible!! From handmade items and artsy creations, to the most gorgeous vintage thrifted finds, I left that flea with a large handful of incredible pieces. A total treat.

Once again, I’m feeling renewed and grateful for a month full of (generally speaking) good vibes. I hope your Mays were enjoyable, too.
